Crumb rubber, also referred as ground rubber, is one of several available asphalt binder modifiers. Rubber from scrap tires or other sources is grinded and blended with asphalt cement to beneficially modify the properties of asphalt, forming rubber-modified asphalt binder (asphalt rubber binder) or used as a aggregate substitute in an asphalt concrete paving mixture.

Great elastic properties
Due to traffic loads, temperature, and earth movements, vertical or horizontal movements will occur in the pavement beneath the asphalt overlay and produces cracks. Reflection cracks occur in the overlay and reflect the crack pattern underneath. Rubber-modified asphalt can greatly reduces this phenomenon for its elastic properties.
Increase resistance to cracking and aging, improve pavement durability
After years of exposure to the elements, asphalt may lose some of its elasticity through oxidation. Meanwhile as the temperature changes, the pavement materials tend to suffer thermal cracks. Rubber modified asphalt pavement shows excellent elasticity at low temperature so that it has good resistance to the propagation of fissures. Besides, it has a greater aging and oxidation resistance due to the anti-oxidants present in the scrap tire rubber.
Improve rutting resistance in new pavement
Heavy loads and high tyre pressures in trucks result in permanent deformation(rutting), which typically occurs in high temperatures. Rubber-modified asphalt binder has higher stiffness than conventional asphalt binder, meanwhile the pavement shows high viscosity at high temperatures so that it has excellent resistance to permanent deformation.
Better skid resistance
This improves safety and would be ideal for areas that may have cold temperatures, snow, and ice.
Decrease the braking distance by 25%, increase safety significantly
The reason is that there is very high adhesion between the tyre rubber and the road rubber.
Good de-icing properties
Due to the high elasticity of rubber particles, the stress state of the ice layer is changed as well as its bonding state with the pavement, so that the pavement has certain de-icing properties.
Comfortable driving

Good elasticity make the pavement softer, reduce vibrations.
Decrease traffic noise
The noise reduced can be 4-8 decibels, creating a quieter road. This is especially good for urban residents as they can have a better sleep quality.
Reduce pavement thickness
The asphalt rubber pavements could be significantly reduced in thickness while provide the same service life as thicker conventional asphalt concrete pavements. The reduced thickness could reach up to 50%. Thus asphalt cement and aggregate are conserved and cost is reduced.
Waste reduction
Scrap tyres are recycled rather than disposed of, reducing waste tyre that going to the landfill.
We provide crumb rubber production lines which can process scrap tyres into crumb rubber. It can save energy significantly and increase much profit for you.
